Women's Tennis Drops Tight Contest to Western Kentucky on Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis dropped a tight contest to Western Kentucky by a score of 5-2 on Saturday (Feb. 14).

The Bulldogs won the doubles point winning two out of three matches, before Western Kentucky rallied to pick up five wins in singles play for the win.

Avery Sager and Maria sol Alvarez Brandon started doubles play with a 7-5 win over Ariadna Fernandez and Isabelle Einess at No. 3, before Valeria Centeno and Isabella Moss picked up a 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 2 over Barbara Olvera and Virginia Madueno to clinch the doubles point. Western Kentucky rallied for four straight singles wins, before Sofia Segui picked up a 6-3, 4-6, 14-12 win over Olvera at No. 5 as Asheville's only win in singles play.
