Bulldogs Blank Winthrop for Key Big South Conference Victory
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer blanked Winthrop 3-0 for a key Big South Conference win at Greenwood Field on Friday (Oct. 9).
The Bulldogs applied offensive pressure from the opening whistle, finally breaking through for the match's first goal in the 17th minute. The Bulldogs had a throw-in deep in Winthrop territory, when the ball was lofted toward the box. A Winthrop failed clear saw the ball find its way to Lennart Granzow who played it across to Tyler Ware who stashed it home in the bottom of the right corner for the score.
It was Ware's 10th goal of the season and 17th of his career, while Granzow picked up his second assist of the season and of his career. The teams traded runs, possessions and chances throughout the remainder of the first half, before a Winthrop player was issued a straight red card on a hard challenge after a video review in the 36th minute of play. Asheville ultimately outshot Winthrop 6-5 in the opening half, while earning one corner kick to Winthrop's three in the frame.17' | Tyler time ⌚️ His 10th of the season has us up 1-0 off an assist from Lenny! #ALLinAVL https://t.co/TivY7gVGlm

It was Ling's first career goal off Salkeld's second assist of the year and ninth of his career and Hardarson's third helper of the year and sixth of his career. Asheville continued to control the match into its final stages, when the final Bulldogs goal would come in the 86th minute. An Asheville goal kick was played forward by Ware to the feet of Matteo Samori, who then played forward for a streaking Kayoum M'Bamba down the far wing. M'Bamba sent a missile to the top right corner for his fifth of the season, with Ware picking up his eighth assist of the season and 15th of his career and Samori earning his second assist of the season and seventh of his career.56' | Have a cup of Joe ☕️ Lingo's first of the season off an assist from Arnor puts us up 2-0! #ALLinAVL https://t.co/Hbl2jpqKgu
