10.17.2026 | Women's Soccer
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer battled to a 1-1 draw at USC Upstate Saturday night (Oct. 17) in the latest installment of the Ingles I-26 Rivalry. The result snapped a four-match winning streak for USC Upstate in the series between the teams.
Â
The teams traded runs, chances and possession throughout the first half, with Upstate outshooting Asheville 6-1 in the half and earning five corner kicks without one for the Bulldogs. Despite the pressure, Asheville's defense held strong and the match went to the half scoreless.
Â
The teams continued more of the same into the second half, before Asheville would finally break away for a run in the 70th minute. Alex Gib broke free on a run down the near side, eventually making a move and getting a shot on target. Â
Asheville registered six shots in the match including three on frame to go along with one corner kick. Francis and Karlee Benz each had two shots in the match with Francis matching her career-high, while Alex Gib and Lilly Graumann each had one shot in the contest. London Phoenix (7-4-3) made four saves between the pipes in the contest.

Upstate would counter with a goal of their own five minutes later, when Jasmyn Mitchner scored her seventh goal of the season unassisted. Each team would have chances in the final 15 minutes, but the match would end in a draw.70' | Hey Alexa, play the goal song 😎 We lead with 20 to play! #ALLinAVL https://t.co/IFWnoBqYRd
