ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Rodney Duncan joins the UNC Asheville Women's Tennis staff as the program's new assistant coach, announced today (Wednesday, June 4) by head coach Jeff Maren.

After spending the previous season at Toledo, Duncan reconnects with Maren as the pair coached together at Liberty. In Duncan's five years on staff, Liberty advanced to the conference tournament every year, either finishing in the semifinals or finals. After Liberty, he spent one season at Bowling Green (2023-24). Prior to Liberty, he was on staff at Longwood from 2016-18. Prior to joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Duncan worked as a Wilson Tennis Camp instructor from 2011-16 and was also the head girls' tennis coach at Holy Cross High School in Lynchburg, Va. from 2007-10.

"Rodney has spent years honing his craft and has become an outstanding coach!" said Maren. "In addition, his passion for the game and love for his team make him an incredible asset for us. I'm looking forward to coaching alongside my friend once again and have no doubt that he will impact this program in many ways!"

"I am really excited to join the UNC Asheville family!" said Duncan. "I would like to thank Janet R. Cone for this wonderful opportunity to do what I love! Having worked with Coach Maren before, I have no doubt that we can accomplish great things here and continue to build upon the program's past success! I can't wait to get started!"

Duncan played collegiate tennis at Division III College of Wooster, where he earned All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles.
