Five Bulldogs Earn Big South Conference All-Conference Honors

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Five UNC Asheville Women's Tennis Players have earned Big South Conference honors, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Apr. 16).
 
Alexis Nyborg and Angelina Joy Hug each earned spots on the All-Conference Singles First Team, while Ari Siegel and Keira Stewart were named to the All-Conference Doubles First Team. Elizabeth Tindera was named to the All-Conference Second Team for Singles, while she and Hug were named to the All-Conference Second Team for Doubles. Nyborg was also named to the All-Academic Team.
 
Hug has won 12 matches in singles play on the season including three in conference and nine at No. 2. She has also earned three Big South Conference Player of the Week honors this season. She and Tindera picked up one doubles win at No. 1 as a pair.
 
These are Hug's third and fourth career All-Conference honors. The Murten, Switzerland native is a health and wellness promotion major.
 
Nyborg won seven matches at No. 1 singles on the season, including winning three matches in conference. Academically, Nyborg boasts a 3.90 grade point average in a double major of business and mathematics.
 
These are Nyborg's third and fourth career postseason honors. She is a native of Moreland Hills, Ohio.
 
Siegel and Stewart went 3-1 as a doubles pair in conference, with two wins at No. 2 and one win at No. 3. Stewart earned two Freshman of the Week honors this season.
 
This is Siegel's fourth career All-Conference honor. The Bradenton, Fla. native is an environmental studies major.
 
This is Stewart's first career All-Conference honor. The Greenville, S.C. native is a psychology major. 
 
Tindera won 11 matches in singles play while going 4-1 in conference and picking up eight wins at No. 3 on the season.
 
These are Tindera's fourth and fifth career postseason honors. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native is a political science major.
 
The Bulldogs (12-6, 4-1 Big South Conference) will face Gardner-Webb in the Big South Conference Championship semifinals on Friday (Apr. 18) in Lexington, S.C. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. from the Lexington County Tennis Complex, with live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
