Session Sets School Record in 200m and 4x100m Relay to Conclude Bulldog Invite

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Track and Field team completed their second and final day of the Bulldog Invite this Saturday (April 12), securing two school records, ten top-five finishes, and five personal bests.
SCHOOL RECORDS AND TOP FINISHES
Shemarr Session continued his standout freshman campaign by breaking the school record in the 200m with a time of 20.66 as he won the event and is now No. 18 in the nation in the 200m. Session joined teammates Joseph Oliver, DaMarr Harvey, and Nkosi Jeju to set a new school record in the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.01.Â
Oliver and Harvey were joined by Adam Graham and Christopher Owens in the 4x400m relay, and the squad earned a first-place finish in 3:17.73. Harvey also earned a runner-up finish in the men's 200m with a time of 20.91 and was followed by Jeju in sixth place in 21.85, followed by Christopher Owens (17th, 22.97), Ethan Acosta (20th, 23.29), Blake Hawks (24th, 23.83) and Aaron Higgins (28th, 24.89).Â
Madison Hannah won the women's discus with a distance of 41.32m.
The women's 4x100m relay took third place in 48.81, featuring Chaniya Owens, Francesca Cergol, Zoey Marrero, and Kamryn Peeples.
The women's 4x400m team took fourth place in 4:10.08, and the men's B team placed seventh in 3:33.32.Â
Women's team: Cergol, Chaniya Owens, Ella Warren, and Payton Murphy.
Men's B team: Ethan Acosta, Jacoby Ennis, Noah Henthorn, and Blake Hawks.
Adam Graham took second place in the men's 400m hurdles with 55.78.Â
In the women's 400m, Murielle Jeanite secured a season-best and fifth-place finish in 58.14.
Christina Jones placed fifth overall in the women's javelin throw with 33.76 meters.Â
TRACKÂ
Ethan Acosta placed 17th with a personal best of 52.15 in the men's section of the 400m.Â
It was a packed 800m for the Bulldogs, with Nikole Baikova taking fourth in the women's section in 2:16.70. Closing behind Baikova was Isabel Richardson, who placed fifth in a season-best of 2:16.79. Ella Warren placed eighth with a personal best of 2:20.52, followed by Payton Murphy (23rd, 2:28.75, SB), Maddie Hamuka (25th, 2:31.82), and Ashley Keazer (28th, 2:35.68).Â
The men's section was led by Jacoby Ennis, who placed seventh in 1:57.55. Logan Russo took 10th in 1:58.44. Preston Core followed in 19th (2:01.47), Andrew Okon in 23rd (2:02.83), and Lance Surles in 43rd (2:13.17).Â
Chaniya Owens placed eighth in the women's 200m with 25.92. Murielle Jeanite finished on her heels in 25.96. Jeanite was followed by Ayanna Salters-Johnson (28th, 27.96), Lee Kania (30th, 28.37), and Madison Eaches (34th, 29.98).Â
FIELD
Neely Rogan placed 11th in the women's discus with 34.77 meters, closely followed by Jaelyn Arnold in 12th with 34.15 meters. Christina Jones took 16th with a distance of 32.55 meters.
The men's section was led by Chad Lasher, who took eighth place in 42.39 meters. Henthorn placed 32nd in 31.61 meters and 15th with a personal best in the men's javelin throw, setting his top mark at 41.81 meters.

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs will next compete in their final regular season meet on April 25-26, splitting the roster between the Charlotte Invitational and Catamount Classic depending on events.Â
