Angelina Joy Hug Earns Big South Conference Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis sophomore Angelina Joy Hug has earned Big South Conference Player of the Week honors, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025).

Asheville Women's Tennis went 1-1 last week, beating North Carolina Central 7-0 and losing to Western Carolina 4-3.Â

Hug lost her doubles match against NC Central but was part of the singles play sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4. Against Western, she and Ari Siegel won at No. 1 doubles 6-2 before she won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.Â

This is Hug's second career Player of the Week honor and fourth career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Murten, Switzerland native is a health and wellness promotion major.

The Bulldogs (6-4) are back in action on Friday (Mar. 12) at Queens (N.C.) First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
