Marsh and Abee Take Home Major Awards; Five Bulldogs Earn All-Conference Accolades

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jordan Marsh earned Newcomer of the Year, Fletcher Abee earned Scholar Athlete of the Year, and five total Bulldogs earned Big South All-Conference honors, announced by the league on Tuesday (March 4).
Marsh was selected to the All-Conference First Team, along with his Newcomer of the Year honor, and Abee was named to the All-Academic Team, along with his Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition. Additionally, Toyaz Solomon was named to the All-Conference Second Team, Josh Banks was an All-Conference Honorable Mention, and Kameron Taylor was named to the All-Freshman Team.
This marks the most individuals in program history to earn All-Conference honors and the most awards received in a season by the league in program history.
Marsh: Newcomer of the Year- The sophomore from Charlotte, N.C. made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs after transferring from App State, as he has played in all 30 games this season, and leads the team with an average of 19.2 points per game. Marsh is also Asheville's leader in assists with 109 and steals with 59. Marsh leads the team with 213 field goals, is third on the team with 45 3-pointers, and is third in rebounds per game with 4.3.
In Big South Conference play alone, Marsh leads the league with 23.1 points per game, the highest points per game average in conference action since the 2019-20 season. Marsh led the Bulldogs in scoring 15 times, led the Bulldogs in assists 15 times, and reached double-figure scoring 26 times. Marsh has scored 30 points or more three times, the most 30-point games in the Big South this season. Against USC Upstate on Feb. 12, Marsh scored 27 points in the second half, the most points scored by a Bulldog in a half this season, and the most points for a Bulldog in a half since Dec. 21, 2023. Marsh also went 13-of-13 from the free throw line against Winthrop on Jan. 18, just the 15th time a Big South player made 100 percent from the charity stripe with at least 13 attempts. Marsh is No. 13 in the nation in field goal attempts, No. 19 in field goals, No. 22 in points, No. 36 in points per game, No. 34 in steals and No. 44 in steals per game.
Marsh had a career-high 33 points and six 3-pointers against High Point on Feb. 8, and a career-high eight assists against Winthrop on Jan. 18.
Abee: Scholar Athlete of the Year- This is the third year Abee has been named to the All-Academic team and first Scholar Athlete of the Year honor for the fifth-year senior from Morganton, N.C. Abee is a two-time Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete, a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District member, and a two-time NABC Honors Court member. Abee is the first Scholar Athlete of the Year for the Bulldogs since Kevin Vannatta during the 2017-18 season. Abee averages 10.0 points per game for the Bulldogs and leads the team with a .429 3-point shooting percentage.
Solomon: Second Team All-Conference- Solomon has reached double-figure scoring in 28 games, started and played in all 30 regular season games and leads the team, averaging 31.5 minutes a game. The senior from Enfield, N.C., is averaging 15.5 points per game and a team-high 7.2 rebounds and 50 blocks. Solomon leads the league in blocks and blocks per game (1.67). Solomon is top-50 in the nation in blocks (No. 39), blocks per game (No. 48), field goal percentage (No. 16), and field goals made (No. 35).
Solomon had a career-high 24 points in Asheville's home victory over North Florida on Dec. 17, and had a career-high 15 rebounds against Central Arkansas on Nov. 24.
Banks: Honorable Mention All-Conference- Banks has been a dominant three-level scorer for the Bulldogs this season, as he is third on the team in field goals made and leads the team with 70 3-pointers. The fifth-year senior from Charlotte, N.C., averages 15.3 points per game with 428 points during the regular season. Banks has scored in double-figures in 23 games, and is second on the team with seven games as the Bulldogs' leading scorer. Banks scored a season-high 30 points in Asheville's senior day win over Longwood on Feb. 22, where he also had a season-high six 3-pointers and a career-high 12 field goals.
Taylor: All-Freshman Team- Asheville's first All-Freshman recognition DeVon Baker during the 2018-19 season, Taylor served as a consistent sixth man for the Bulldogs. The freshman from Charlotte, N.C., was Asheville's fifth-leading scorer at 8.8 points per game and averaged 4.2 rebounds during the regular season. Taylor served as Asheville's leading scorer and rebounder in two games for each category and reached double-figure scoring 14 times. Taylor scored a season-high 21 points against VU Lynchburg on Dec. 19 and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds against Radford on Jan 29.
The Bulldogs return to action as the No. 2 seed in the 2025 Hercules Tires Big South Conference Tournament. Asheville will take on No. 7 Charleston Southern at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at the Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
