ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis blanked North Carolina Central 7-0 at home on Thursday (Feb. 27).
Asheville won two of three doubles matches to take the doubles point and a 1-0 lead, before sweeping singles play to secure the shutout.
Avery Sager and Louise Booker defeated Mariana Zottoli and Patricia Palencia 7-6 at No. 2 doubles, before Valeria Centeno and Elizabeth Tindera teamed up for a 6-1 win at No. 3 over Valentina De Aquino and Gabriela Mejia. Alexis Nyborg defeated Alejandra Hidalgo in straight sets at No. 1 7-5, 6-4, before Booker beat Valeria San Miguel 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Angelina Joy Hug swept Zolotti 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, before Tindera beat Palencia 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. Keira Stewart beat De Aquino 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, before Centeno closed things out with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Mejia at No. 6.
