WILMINGTON, N.C. - UNC Asheville Baseball fell to UNC Wilmington in the series opener on Friday (Feb. 21) by a score of 13-1.

UNCW jumped out to a lead with three runs in the second, eight in the fourth and two in the fifth. Asheville's lone run came in the seventh when Johnny Brucato scored on a ball in play off the bat of Chase Klingemann.

Logan Lowe, Corbin Lanowitz and Isaac Turner each had hits in the game, while Brucato scored a run for Asheville. Colby Guy got the start for Asheville going 3.2 innings allowing nine runs, three earned, on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. He was relieved by Chase Buscher for 0.1 innings, allowing two unearned runs on one hit with two walks and one strikeout. Tony Lopez tossed one inning of relief allowing two runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts, while Zachary Gaydos fired one scoreless inning of relief with one walk.
