LAST TIME OUT FOR ASHEVILLE

  • The Bulldogs dropped a tough battle to NC State on Saturday, 75-63, in the Lenovo Center in Raleigh. Asheville held a nine-point lead at one point in the first half, and only trailed by two going into the second frame, but the Wolfpack used a strong second half to extend its lead and secure the victory. 
  • For the third game in a row, Asheville had the same four scorers reach double-figures, led by Kameron Taylor with 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Justin Wright followed with 16 points, with 10 of his points coming in the opening minutes of action. DJ Patrick had 15 points off five 3-pointers, and Toyaz Solomon rounded out Asheville with 12 points, with six of his points coming from the charity stripe. 
  • Despite the Bulldogs outshooting NC State from 3-point range, the Wolfpack found success inside, as NC State made 28 shots from the field compared to Asheville's 20, and outshot Asheville 40-14 in the paint. 

BULLDOGS PUTTING IN THE MINUTES 

  • Asheville has four of the top five players averaging the most minutes per game in the league, with Kameron Taylor leading the way (32:17), followed by DJ Patrick (32:14), Toyaz Solomon (32:12), and Justin Wright in fifth, averaging 30:49. 
  • Solomon played all 40 minutes in Saturday's game, joining Patrick, who has seen every minute in two contests so far this season. The last Bulldog to play an entire contest before Solomon and Patrick was Tajion Jones against Campbell in the Big South Conference Championship in 2023. 

ASHEVILLE THROUGH NINE 

  • Justin Wright, Solomon, and Taylor have started and played in all nine games this season. Wright is leading Asheville with 17.4 points per game and 16 steals. Taylor closely follows, averaging 17.1 points per game and leads the team with 27 assists and 15 offensive rebounds. 
  • Solomon is averaging 16.3 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and leads the team with nine blocks. Patrick is averaging 10.7 points per game and leads the team with 18 3-pointers and a .462 3-point percentage. 
  • Patrick leads the league in three-point percentage and is No. 30 in the nation. As a team, Asheville is No. 43 in the nation with a .375 3-point shooting percentage. 

A LOOK AT THE REDHAWKS 

  • The RedHawks enter this week receiving votes in the AP Poll and are No. 4 in the most recent Mid-Major Poll, as Miami is undefeated on the season, and is one of eight undefeated teams remaining in Division I. The team's 8-0 start is the best start to a season since 1995-96.
  • All but one of Miami's victories have been double-digit wins, as the RedHawks have a 28.6 scoring margin over their opponents (No. 3 in the nation). 
  • Along with scoring margin, the RedHawks rank in the top 20 nationally in nine categories.

  • The RedHawks have four players averaging double-digit scoring, led by Evan Ipsaro at 14.8 points per game, followed by Brant Byers (12.6), Peter Suder (12.4), and Almar Atlason (11.8). 
  • Atlason leads the nation in free throws as he is a perfect 22-of-22 from the charity stripe. 
  • Eian Elmer leads Miami with 6.5 rebounds per game, and Tyler Robbins leads the team with 10 blocks. 
  • Luke Skaljac is leading the team with 29 assists and is followed by Ipsaro and Suder with 27 apiece. 
  • Ipsaro and Antwone Woolfolk lead the team with 13 steals. 
  • Ipsaro leads the team with a .613 field goal percentage, and Byers leads the team with 18 3-pointers. 
  • This will be the first time the two teams have squared off.

THE BULLDOGS IN DECEMBER 

  • Kids (K-12 and younger) will receive free entry for all home non-conference basketball games for the remainder of December.
  • The men's basketball team opens Big South Conference play on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) against High Point. Kids (K-12 and younger) can receive free entry into this game ONLY if they attended a previous non-conference game in December. The non-conference games will have a coupon provided when a youth ticket is claimed to get a free ticket for the Dec. 31 conference opener. Free tickets will not be distributed at the box office on Dec. 31 without the coupon. Tickets to that game can be purchased here
