Akari Kishida Named Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer senior midfielder Akari Kishida has been named the Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Oct. 6).

UNC Asheville earned a 1-1 draw at Presbyterian last Wednesday (Oct. 1), before blanking Winthrop 2-0 to secure four points in the conference last week. Kishida scored a beauty of a goal off a free kick in the 80th minute to secure the tie against Presbyterian, before scoring an Olympico for her fourth of the season in the match against Winthrop.

This is Kishida's first career Player of the Week honor. She is a native of Tokyo, Japan, and is a business major.

The Bulldogs (5-5-2, 1-1-1 Big South Conference) return to action next Saturday (Oct. 11) to host Radford in Big South Conference action for the annual Pink Out match. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. from Greenwood Field, with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
