Swimmers Take Down Campbell in Dual Action on Saturday

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving took down Campbell by a score of 142-119 on Saturday (Oct. 18), while splitting the day with a 191-70 setback against East Carolina.
Against Campbell, the Bulldogs posted five individual wins as well as winning both relay events. The quartet of Savanna Bush, Gracelyn Cox, Taylor Smith and Anna Marcotti posted a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:48.67, while Marcotti picked up a win in the 200 free in 1:56.24.
Beatrice Cocconcelli would earn a win in the 100 back in 59.38, while Alessia Cunegatti earned points posting a win against Campbell in the 200 fly with 2:09.70.
At the first break, the Bulldogs and Camels were tied at 65 apiece.
Cunegatti posted another win against Campbell for the Bulldogs in the 200 back in 2:07.03, while Bush took second in 2:09.86.
Smith (58.47), Andie Quisumbing (59.89) and Cocconcelli (1:00.43) swept the top three places in the 100 fly versus Campbell bringing the Bulldogs to a lead 115-110 at the final break of the day.
Cunegatti won the 200 IM in 2:07.42 along with Anna Kate Halligan capturing the second finish in 2:13.19. Cunegatti's victory was also the lone win of the day against East Carolina.
In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay, the quartet of Gianna Riffel, Quisumbing, Cocconcelli and Marcotti capped off the win against Campbell in 3:36.74 earning 11 points to seal the meet victory.
The Bulldogs (1-1) are back in action Nov. 1 when the divers head to East Carolina for a non-conference contest. The action is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. from Greenville, N.C.
