FARMVILLE, Va. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer blanked Longwood 3-0 on Sunday (Oct. 12) for a key Big South Conference clean sheet, marking three straight shutout victories for the Bulldogs on the road in Farmville.

The Bulldogs applied pressure early in the first half and eventually struck first in the eighth minute off a free kick. Rinta Takagi sent the free kick into the box, that eventually found the head of Benian Yao. Yao advanced the play to the other side of the goal, before Louis Beckett stashed it home for his first of the season and third of his Bulldog career. Asheville's offensive pressure continued through the next few minutes, as the Bulldogs set up one of their three first half corners. The ball was served into the box by Rodrigo Mendes and headed home by Yao for his first of the season and fourth of his career in the 17th minute. Asheville continued to apply pressure throughout the first half, outshooting Longwood 7-2 and earning three corner kicks to Longwood's one as they took their 2-0 lead to the break.

Longwood would find some offensive rhythym early in the second half, before the Bulldogs would push back and ultimately score the match's final goal. The Bulldogs worked their way down the pitch before Arnor Hardarson played a ball through a scramble in the box. Beckett was able to get his foot on it to punch it in for his second of the day and his second of the season. Each team would go on to total four shots in the second half as the Bulldogs walked away with the win.

Asheville outshot Longwood 11-6 in the match including 7-3 in shots on frame, while each team totaled five corner kicks in the contest.
