UNC Asheville Women's Tennis Sweeps Big South Conference Weekly Awards

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis swept the Big South Conference weekly awards for this week, announced by the league today (Wednesday, Jan. 29).
 
Sophomore Louise Booker was named Player of the Week, while Julia Caffarena was named Freshman of the Week. The Bulldogs (2-0) blanked Tusculum last Saturday (Jan. 25) 7-0 for their second consecutive shutout.
 
Booker and Avery Sager picked up a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles in the match, while Booker won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Booker posts a 2-0 record in singles on the season, while she and Sager are also currently 2-0 in doubles play.
 
This is Booker's first career Player of the Week honor and third career weekly conference honor. The Lowestoft, Suffolk, U.K. native is a health and wellness promotion major.  
 
Caffarena earned the win at No. 3 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-1 to move to 2-0 on the season.
 
This is Cafferena's first career Freshman of the Week honor. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native is a health and wellness promotion major.
 
The Bulldogs (2-0) return to the court on Saturday (Feb. 1) to host Furman. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
