CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis sophomore Angelina Joy Hug has been named the Big South Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Tuesday, Jan. 21).

Asheville began their 2025 season on Sunday (Jan. 19) with a 7-0 win over Chattanooga, with Hug picking up a 6-3 win with Ari Siegel at No. 1 doubles before winning at No. 2 singles 6-2, 7-5.

This is her first career Player of the Week honor and her third career Big South Conference weekly honor. The Murten, Switzerland native is a health and wellness promotion major.

The Bulldogs (1-0) are back in action on Saturday (Jan. 25) to host Tusculum in non-conference action. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. from the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
