Bulldogs Blank Chattanooga for Sunday Afternoon Victory

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis blanked Chattanooga 7-0 on Sunday (Jan. 19) at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown to start their 2025 season.

Asheville took two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before sweeping singles play to secure the shutout.

Angelina Joy Hug and Ari Siegel teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Alice Hall and Savannah Presson 6-3, before Louise Booker and Avery Sager beat Margaret Manolache and Zara Burns 6-1 at No. 3 to take the doubles point.

Alexis Nyborg went on to beat Presson 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1, before Hug beat Emma Pedretti 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2. Booker beat Manolache 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 before Julia Caffarena was able to grind out a 4-6, 7-6, 10-3 win over Burns at No. 4. Valeria Centeno and Luise van Rensburg each earned wins by default at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
