Defending Big South Conference Champion Women's Tennis Tabbed Second in Big South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Defending Big South Conference Champion UNC Asheville Women's Tennis was tabbed second in the Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league today (Thursday, Jan. 16).
 
2024 league runner-up Charleston Southern was tabbed first with 35 points and five first-place votes, while Asheville was picked second with 31 points and the remaining first-place vote. Gardner-Webb was picked third with 23 points, while Presbyterian (16 points), Radford (12 points) and Longwood (nine points) rounded out the poll.
 
Asheville returns seven players from last year's conference championship team in 2024 Second Team All-Conference Doubles selection Louise Booker, Valeria Centeno, 2024 All-Conference First Team Doubles and Second Team Singles selection Angelina Joy Hug, 2024 Freshman of the Year and All-Conference Second Team Singles selection Alexis Nyborg, Avery Sager, 2024 All-Conference First Team Doubles selection Ari Siegel and Elizabeth Tindera.
 
"We don't read too much into the preseason poll, but we're excited to get out and compete again this Spring," said head coach Lise Gregory.
 
The Bulldogs open the 2025 slate this Sunday (Jan. 19) at home against Chattanooga. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
