Caroline Patterson Named Big South Conference Golfer of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In her second tournament as a Bulldog, Caroline Patterson won the individual title to help earn her Big South Conference Co-Golfer of the Week. The announcement was made by the league on Thursday (Sept. 19).
Patterson won the individual title with a 1-over 217 (74-68-75) to lead UNC Asheville to a second-place finish at the Velvet Classic (par 72, 6,030 yards). She paced the field with 12 birdies and finished three strokes ahead of the second-place finisher. Her second-round 68 (-4) was the only round in the 60s out of all 91 competitors.
Patterson shares the honor with Katie Stephens from Charleston Southern, who led the Buccaneers to the team title at the Elon Invitational while finishing runner-up with an even-par 142 (70-72).
Abigail Sheldon from Longwood earned Freshman of the Week.
Patterson and the rest of the Bulldogs are back in action on Monday, Sept. 23, as Asheville competes in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Wolcott, Colorado.
