Valeria Centeno, Avery Sager Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

FULL COLLEGE SPORTS COMMUNICATORS RELEASE
GREENWOOD, Ind. - UNC Asheville Women's Tennis sophomores Valeria Centeno and Avery Sager each earned Academic All-District® honors from College Sports Communicators, announced by the organization today. This marks the first Academic All-District selections for Asheville Women's Tennis since Zoe Hamel in 2014.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade point average and also play in 70 percent of team contests that include team scores.
Centeno went 9-5 including 2-1 in Big South Conference play this season, earning seven wins at No. 6 singles and two wins at No. 5. She and Sager went 4-4 in doubles play including 1-0 in conference at No. 3, while she also posted one win with Louise Booker at No. 3 doubles. Academically, Centeno holds a 3.60 GPA double majoring in management and languages and literatures.
This is Centeno's first career Academic All-District® honor. She is a native of Hialeah, Fla.
Sager went 7-4 in singles play with four wins at No. 6, two wins at No. 5 and one win at No. 4 including going 2-0 in conference play. She and Centeno went 4-4 in doubles play including 1-0 in conference at No. 3, while she and Louise Booker also went 5-3 in doubles play including 2-2 in Big South Conference play. Academically, Sager holds a 3.69 GPA in political science.
This is Sager's first career Academic All-District® honor. She is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.
