DURHAM, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis routed North Carolina Central 6-1 on Saturday (Mar. 2) for a non-conference win by a score of 6-1.
Asheville won two out of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before winning five out of six in singles play.
Tarek Erlewein and Bruno Serra teamed up to beat Leo Fortier and Hugo Hidalgo 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Freddy Murray and Sam Nicholson beat Neiman Sneed and Naresh Bharathy 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. Murray went on to beat Kareem Abdul Hakeem 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Jon Brann Reid beat Fortier 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3. Cian Ingles won by retirement after a 4-1 start at No. 6 singles over Lucas Artigas, before Erlewein beat Bharathy 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Bruno Serra closed things out with a 7-6 (7-0), 1-0 win by retirement over Oliver Saarinen at No. 5 singles.Â
