Women’s Golf Wraps Up Play at Rivertowne Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team closed its spring opener on Tuesday, tied for seventh at the Rivertowne Invitational. 

Asheville shot 305 on Tuesday to combine for a tournament score of 896 (297 R1, 294 R2).

HOW THE BULLDOGS FINISHED

Madyson Gold and Claudia Salvador led the Bulldogs on the course, finishing tied in 29th at 9-over par for a tournament score of 225. Gold shot rounds of 76, 71 and 78. Salvador jumped 13 spots after shooting a team-low 73 during the third round. Salvador finished with rounds of 77, 75, and 73.

Phoebe Carles jumped five spots and finished tied in 31st at 10-over par. She shot rounds of 76, 74 and 76. 

Beryl Giletti finished tied in 37th at 11-over par. She shot rounds of 75, 74 and 78. 

Hailey Pendleton rounded out the Bulldogs, tied in 58th with rounds of 70, 86 and 78. 

In the final round, Asheville combined for seven birdies, with Salvador, Carles, and Pendleton all recording a birdie on hole 17 (par 3). 

Asheville will return for the final round of play in the Rivertowne Invitational tomorrow, Tuesday, February 26.

Asheville heads to Gulf Shores, Ala. March 17-19, for the Alabama Beach Bash, hosted by UAB.
