Bulldogs Break Century Mark in Home Opener Win Against St. Andrews

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – All 13 Bulldogs that played on Saturday made their way into the scoring column as the UNC Asheville men's basketball team defeated St. Andrews 120-64 in Kimmel Arena.
Saturday's win marks the sixth time Asheville has scored over 100 points against St. Andrews in the two teams' 10-game history. Saturday's win also marks the fourth year in a row the Bulldogs have scored over 100 points in at least one game during the season.
In the first half alone, Fletcher Abee scored 25 points, going 8-12 from the field and 6-10 from 3-point range. Connor Dubsky scored 20 points, going 6-12 from the field and 5-11 from the 3-point range. Jordan Marsh followed with 14 points, going 6-10 from the field and Kameron Taylor was the final Bulldog in double figures with 11 points, going 5-8 and 1-3 from distance.
Toyaz Solomon recorded eight points and eight boards, Jemal Davis had four points, Sage Tolentino had nine points, Javoy Thompson had seven points and seven boards, Greg Gantt Jr. had six points, eight rebounds and five assists, Julian Clarke had five points, Aidan Rubio had four, Rasheed Baldwin had four and Corey Jones had three. Taylor and Rubio led Asheville with three steals each.
The Bulldogs shot 61% from the field (44-72), 45.5% from 3-point range (15-33) and 68% from the free thrown line (17-25).
Asheville had 56 points in the paint, 38 off turnovers, 30 from fast breaks and 49 points off the bench.
Solomon got the scoring started with a dunk 14 seconds into the game. There would go on to be a total of seven dunks for the Bulldogs. Connor Dubsky followed Solomon with back-to-back 3-pointers, and a 3-pointer from Abee 3:19 into the game gave the Bulldogs a double-digit lead (13-3). With 10:37 left in the opening half, Marsh connected for three consecutive layups to make the score 31-14.

Leading by 25, Abee connected for back-to-back triples to make the score 56-25 with 3:12 remaining. Asheville entered the second half ahead 64-28 with Thompson and Gantt closing the half out with back-to-back layups.
Solomon opened the second half with back-to-back tipins, followed by a dunk from Davis and a layup from Marsh, giving Asheville a 42 point lead (72-30).

Asheville went on an 8-0 run to extend its lead out to 50, fueled by a dunk from Tolentino and two 3-pointers from Dubsky (80-30). A 3-pointer from Taylor with 11:21 left in the game gave Asheville a 52 point lead, and the Bulldogs led by 49 points or more for the rest of the contest. Asheville's largest lead in the final half was 59, following a tipin from Thompson (6:31).
With Saturday's win, the Bulldogs move to 4-4 on the season.
Asheville will be back in Kimmel Arena on Wednesday, as the Bulldogs host Bluefield at 4:30 p.m.
