Volleyball Preps to Face Winthrop and Gardner-Webb

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – It's another three-match week for the UNC Asheville volleyball team as the Bulldogs host Winthrop on Tuesday in the Justice Center before traveling to Gardner-Webb on Friday (Nov. 8) and Winthrop on Saturday (Nov. 9).

BULLDOG UPDATE
Asheville went 2-1 last week, dropping its Tuesday match at Gardner-Webb (Oct. 29) before returning to the Justice Center for the first time since Sept. 10 and defeating Charleston Southern and Presbyterian over the weekend.
Asheville's wins over the weekend helped the Bulldogs improve to 5-4 in the conference standings and moved into third in the Big South Volleyball Standings. Asheville is behind Winthrop, who sits at 7-2. Asheville will face Winthrop for the first time this season on Tuesday and Saturday.
Gardner-Webb is last in the league standings with a 2-8 conference record.
Kylie Cackovic continues to lead the Bulldogs as she recorded 41 kills, 37 digs and accounted for 48.5 points for the team over the last week. She averaged 3.42 kills per set, 3.08 digs per set, and 4.04 points per set. Cackovic is No. 3 in the league in kills and points.
Saturday's match featured 12 blocks, with Kimberly Czepukaitis leading the way with four solo blocks and four block assists. Albertine van der Goot and Ana Djurovic had four block assists, Lydia Pate had three, and Avery Loeback had one. Pate, Czepukaitis, and van der Goot all hold spots on the Big South blocks leaderboard, with Pate and Czepukaitis at seven and eight and van der Goot at No. 10.
Ana Djurovic had a standout weekend. She was third in kills with 19, led the team with eight service aces, and contributed on defense with 23 digs.
Payton Rolfsen recorded 103 assists over the last three games and averaged 8.58 assists. She was third on the team with four service aces.
Michelle Thao led the defense last week with 62 digs, averaging 5.17 a set.
Asheville's victory over Presbyterian on Saturday marked the first time since 2021 that Asheville has beaten two opponents twice in a season. The Bulldogs' 5-4 record is the most conference wins since the 2020-21 season.
A NOTE TO FANS ATTENDING UPCOMING HOME EVENTS
We are excited to welcome fans to the Justice Center to support our volleyball team for the remainder of their home games! As we continue to navigate the ongoing status of water in the Asheville area, porta johns will be available for fans to use, as bathrooms in the building will not be available. The porta johns will be located in the Student Recreation Plaza.
