ROCK HILL, S.C. - Louise Booker and Alexis Nyborg advanced in the singles bracket as UNC Asheville Women's Tennis finished day one of the Big South Conference Individual Championships on Friday (Oct. 25).

4-seed Nyborg defeated 13-seed Julia Abrams of Radford 6-1, 6-2 while 12-seed Booker upset 6-seed Alizee Poulin of Gardner-Webb 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

5-seed doubles team Booker and Ari Siegel lost 8-3 to 4-seed Emma Shasteen and Emilia Roslund of Gardner-Webb, while 2-seed Angelina Joy Hug and Elizabeth Tindera dropped an 8-5 decision to 7-seed Mackenzie Davis and Madison Dennett of Presbyterian. In singles play, 5-seed Hug dropped her match 11-seed Michaela Stephens of Radford 6-2, 7-5.

The tandem of Booker and Siegel face 8-seed Karina Rizvanova and Alexandra Magia of Longwood in the consolation round, while Hug and Tindera will face Abrams and Lexi Smolder of Radford. Both matches will start at 9:00 a.m.

Nyborg and Booker will square off in the quarterfinals of singles play at 10:30 a.m. Tindera will take on Rizvanova at 12:00 p.m. in the consolation round, while Hug will face Davis at 12:00 p.m.
