Cross Country travels to Boone for Covered Bridge Open

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville cross country teams will travel to Boone, N.C., to compete in the Covered Bridge Open on Friday morning at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm Fields. The women's race will begin at 10 a.m., with the men's race to follow.
LAST TIME OUT
In their first outing of the season at the Young Harris Invitational, the men's team won the team title, and Adam Hessler won the race with a time of 18:30.3.
Hessler's first-place finish on Friday marked the third of his career and second in his last four races. In addition to Hessler's outing, three other Bulldogs finished among the top 10 runners. Quinn Jacquez (3rd – 18:40.8), Daniel Hopkins (4th – 18:43.3), and Yates Hockaday (10th – 18:57.2) all joined Hessler in the top 10 finishers in the 6K race.
The women's team finished in fourth place in the 4K. Sophie Lundin started her sophomore campaign off on a high note with a ninth-place finish on a time of 16:09.0. In her first collegiate race, Ella Moore was right behind Lundin, running the 4K course in 16:11.0.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
From his performance in the Young Harris Invitational, Jonas Roach was named the Big South Conference Cross Country Men's Freshman of the Week. Roached earned a 16th-place finish with a time of 19:06.03.
