Bulldogs Sweep Big South Conference Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's tennis has swept the Big South Conference's women's tennis weekly awards, announced by the conference today (Wednesday, Feb. 8).
Ami Grace Dougah has been named Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Avery Sager has been named Freshman of the Week.
The Bulldogs went 2-0 to extend their match win streak to five, with a 7-0 win against Tusculum on Feb. 2 and a 4-3 win over Davidson on Feb. 4.
Dougah went 1-1 in doubles play on the week and 2-0 in singles play. She picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles in the match against Tusculum, before she and Rosie Dickson picked up a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles in the Davidson match. Dougah wrapped up her week with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles in the win over Davidson.
This is Dougah's fifth career Player of the Week honor. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native is a management major.
Sager picked up the match-clinching victory at No. 5 singles against Davidson by a score of 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, rallying from a 2-6, 3-1 deficit in the contest.
This is Sager's first career Freshman of the Week honor. Sager is a native of Waxhaw, N.C.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Feb. 11) to host UNC Wilmington in non-conference action. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Asheville Racquet Club.
