ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Basketball opens the 2023-24 season at Furman Tuesday night (Nov. 7). Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. from Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C.

About the Bulldogs - Asheville features 10 returning faces and four new faces for Honey Brown's fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs, including Preseason All-Big South First Team selection McKinley Brooks-Sumpter. Brooks-Sumpter put together a solid campaign in 2022-23, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding while ranking eighth in the conference in scoring (13.1 PPG) and being tied for seventh in the conference in rebounding (6.6 RPG). Asheville also returns a core that was integral in defending the three-point line a season ago, as the Bulldogs finished second in the Big South and 27th in the nation in three-point shooting defense (27.7 percent). Asheville was also tabbed fifth in the Big South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. Asheville's new faces in 2023-24 are transfers LaImani Simmons (High Point), Jaila Lee (St. Francis Brooklyn) Briauna Thompson (South Carolina State) and freshman Trinity Fields (Old, Hickory, Tenn.).

About the Paladins - Furman features a new look under new head coach Pierre Curtis in his first season as the Paladins bench boss. Furman returns 11 letter winners from a season ago, with five having sustainable game experience including Preseason All-SoCon selection Tate Walters.

Series History - This will be the 34th all-time meeting between Asheville and Furman, with Furman leading the all-time series 20-14. Furman has won the last six in the series, including a 65-64 victory in Asheville back on Dec. 7, 2022.
