LAST TIME OUT

Asheville went 2-1 in the Northern Classic Nov. 24-26, in Laval, Canada, picking up big wins over Wofford and Western Kentucky. Asheville defeated the Terriers in overtime 85-82. In the Northern Classic finale on Sunday, the Bulldogs earned a 77-67 victory over the Hilltoppers.

Across all three games, Josh Banks led the Bulldogs, averaging 15.7 points per game, followed by Fletcher Abee, who had 15 points per game. Nick McMullen averaged 11 points, and Jamon Battle averaged 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. In two games, Drew Pember averaged 21.5 points. 

BULLDOGS LEADING THE CHARTS

Pember continues to lead the Bulldogs with 103 points (17.2 ppg) and is averaging 6.2 rebounds a game. Pember leads the team with 11 blocks, recording four in Canada, and needs 16 blocked shots to become just the seventh player in Big South history with 1,000 points (1,324), 500 rebounds (562), and 200 blocked shots (184). 

Last week, Pember also surpassed 100 made three-point field goals, making him the fifth player in conference annals with 100 three-pointers and 100 blocked shots. 

Hot on Pember's heels in points scored is Abee with 93 points (13.3 ppg). Abee leads the team with a .457 3-point field goal percentage and is 20-for-21 at the free throw line, to lead the team with a .952 free throw percentage.

Caleb Burgess leads the team with 36 assists and is 16 assists away from 200 career assists. Trent Stephney is 19 assists away from 300 career assists. 

ASHEVILLE'S OPPONENT- A ROYAL WELCOME

The Johnson University Royals enter Friday's game with a three-game win streak. 

In their last outing, the Royals hosted the reigning Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament champions, Columbia International University. In a nail-biting game, the Royals clinched an 85-84 victory over the Rams. Dallas Carbaugh led the Royals' offense with 24 points, and a go-ahead three from Toris Woods secured their victory with only 16 seconds remaining. 

As a freshman, Woods is already making his mark for the Royals, leading with 151 points, 22 rebounds, 14 assists, and three blocks this season. He has been supported by Malique Oates, who has secured 53 rebounds and nine assists, and Jawaun Moore, who has 41 rebounds and 29 assists.
