Women's Basketball Hangs Tough in Big South Conference Loss to Campbell

 ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's basketball hung tough in its 54-44 loss to Campbell in Big South Conference action on Saturday (Jan. 28) at Kimmel Arena.
As Campbell seemed to control the game early, the Bulldogs came alive in the fourth quarter to out-score the Camels 16-7 in the period and bring the game to its final score.
The Bulldogs scored 20 points off 33 Campbell turnovers in the game, while also scoring 18 points in the paint and six on second chances. Asheville also out-scored Campbell 6-3 on fast breaks and 15-13 off the bench. The game also marked the 100th career appearance for Faith Adams.
McKinley Brooks-Sumpter led the Bulldogs with 13 points in the game, while Adams and Dakota McCaughan each had seven points. Nycerra Minnis and Jamaya Blanks each had six, while Jordaynia Ivie and Jamia Blake each had two and Mallory Bruce also added one. Brooks-Sumpter and Ivie each pulled down a team-high five rebounds, while Adams and Abigail Wilson each had three rebounds. Blake pulled down two boards in the game, while Blanks and Bruce each had one. Brooks-Sumpter and Ivie each dished out a team-high three assists in the game, while Adams, Wilson and McCaughan each had one. Brooks-Sumpter, Ivie and McCaughan each registered a team-high three steals in the game, while Adams, Blanks and Minnis each had two and Bruce and Jada Brigman each had one. Minnis also posted Asheville's lone rejection in the game.
