Bulldogs Open 2023 with Win over Emmanuel (Ga.)

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville men's tennis opened its 2023 season with a 6-1 win over Emmanuel (Ga.) on Saturday (Jan. 28) at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs took the doubles point with two wins, before winning five out of six singles matches in the contest.
Sam Nicholson and Harry Thursfield defeated Joan Grosset and Dorian Verrue 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, before Bruno Serra and Chester Wickwire secured the doubles point with a 6-1 win over Munyaradzi Musanhu and Marcos Llorens at No. 3.
Nicholson then swept his No. 1 singles match over Verrue 6-0, 6-2, while Freddy Murray took down Hassan Badran in straight sets at No. 3 7-5, 6-2. Tarek Erlewein blanked Alejandro Gomez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, while Rafa Serra beat Grosset 8-2 at No. 5 and Wickwire beat Jose Calderon 8-1 at No. 6.
