Swimming & Diving preps for a road meet at Georgia Southern this weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville swimming & diving team will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Georgia Southern in another Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) meet. This meet will occur over two days (January 14-15). The action will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday before resuming at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Last Time Out – The Bulldogs opened the 2023 portion of their schedule with a 190-72 victory over Gardner-Webb last Friday at the Justice Center Pool.
Applause for Abby – Junior Abby Parks led the charge for Asheville in the win over Gardner-Webb. Parks won a pair of events in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.83) and 100-yard freestyle (52.98) and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team take the top spot with a split of 24.39.
Streak for Swimming & Diving Continues – Friday's win against the Runnin' Bulldogs continued the stellar streak for Asheville. Dating back to October 2020, the Bulldogs are an incredible 18-0 in dual meets. Furthermore, since November 2019 Asheville has posted a record of 23-1-1 in dual meets.
Last Road Test – This weekend's meet vs. Georgia Southern will be the last road meet for Asheville this season. The Bulldogs, who will wrap up the regular season with their senior day meets on January 20-21, have not lost a dual meet on the road since October 2019 at Liberty.
About the Eagles – Georgia Southern will be hosting its first meet of the season this weekend. In their last time out, the Eagles competed at FIU (diving) and at the Orange Bowl Classic (swimming). GSU finished second at the Classic posting a point total of 652 finishing behind only the University of Findlay.
Series Rewind vs. Georgia Southern – Georgia Southern holds the slight edge against Asheville historically winning six of the 11 meets. However, Asheville has won four straight meets against the Eagles, including a 274.5-207.5 win in Statesboro in 2021.
