RICHMOND, Va. - The UNC Asheville Women's Swimming and Diving team has earned Spring All-America Scholar Team honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America presented by Fitter & Faster, announced today (Wednesday, July 1) by the organization.

To earn Scholar All-America Team honors, a team has to post at least a 3.0 grade point average for the semester. Asheville has earned the honor now 28 consecutive semesters, in every semester of the program's existence.

Asheville posted a 3.72 team grade point average for the Spring while also landing six on the Academic All-ASUN Team and having four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honorees. Graduate Tess Peny also earned the Big South Conference's prestigious Christenberry Award, presented to the male and female athletes at each Big South Conference institution with the highest grade point average.

"What an honor to coach a team with such a strong work ethic in the classroom and within our sport," said head coach Elizabeth Lykins. "To accumulate eight Chancellor's List (4.0 GPA) and 10 Dean's List honorees is beyond fantastic! We want to thank our Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services, Rebecca Nelms, and our Faculty Athletic Rep, Jeff Wilcox, for their tireless work with all of our students. We could not have done this without you. This is the 28th consecutive semester of earning this team accomplishment, speaking volumes to the emphasis placed upon classroom success within our program."
