Davidson edges out Asheville, 1-0, on Thursday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team was edged out by Davidson by a 1-0 score Thursday evening in non-conference action. With the loss, Asheville's record dips to 2-4-1 on the season.
There was not a ton of scoring chances between the Bulldogs and Wildcats in the first 45 minutes of action. Davidson's first three shot attempts were not on target, but Asheville's first shot was on goal from Sina Anger.
The scoreless tie would end in the 27th minute when Asheville accidentally knocked the ball into its own net for an own goal.
Following the own goal, the defensive stalemate would continue for the rest of the contest. Davidson would have a flurry of chances around the 68th minute but were denied for the Bulldog defense.
Unfortunately, the Bulldog offense could not find a way to get around the Wildcat defense as Thursday's tilt ended in a 1-0 win for Davidson as it improved to 6-0-1 on the season.
Asheville will be back in action on Sunday when it makes the short trip to Johnson City, Tennessee to take on East Tennessee State. The tilt between the Bulldogs and Buccaneers is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
