Bulldogs fall on the road to Elon, 4-0

ELON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team fell in non-conference action Sunday evening at Elon by a score of 4-0. With the loss, the Bulldogs dip to 2-3-1 on the season.
The Phoenix controlled the pace of play early in Sunday's match. Elon, which recorded nine shot attempts in the first half, broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute with a goal from Molly Mahoney.
Asheville hung tough but the Phoenix extended their lead to 2-0 in the minute before halftime thanks to a goal from Ashlee Brehio.
Elon would tack on another goal in the 56th minute before they closed out the scoring in the 75th minute when Asheville knocked the ball into its own goal to finish off the 4-0 contest. '
The Bulldogs recorded five shots on the night with two of them being on goal. Solveig Schlitter tallied three of those shots, while Taylor Gardner accounted for the other two. Freshman Grace Murray made her second start of the season in net for Asheville and made four saves in 90 minutes of action.
Asheville will be back in action on Thursday when it visits Davidson for another non-conference contest. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
