Men’s Tennis drops match at Radford Sunday

RADFORD, Va. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team suffered its first conference loss of the season on Sunday, falling at Radford 5-2.
The Highlanders, who boast a strong 10-5 and move to a perfect 4-0 record in Big South play, earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles competition, Radford quickly took No. 1 and No. 4, but Harry Thursfield edged out Guilherme Severin 6-4, 6-4 to give the Bulldogs life. The Highlanders would clinch the victory with an Aditya Balsekar win at the No. 5 spot, but Leo Bierbaum was able to salvage a singles victory, outlasting Andres Silva 6-4, 7-6 with a 7-4 tiebreak win.
The loss moves Asheville's overall record to 8-4 with a 2-1 conference mark. The Bulldogs return to action Thursday when they visit Presbyterian at 3:00 p.m.
