Men’s Tennis scores 4-3 win at North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team visited North Carolina A&T Thursday afternoon for just its second Big South match of the season, as Bruno Serra's three-set, tiebreak win lifted the Bulldogs to the 4-3 victory.
Asheville jumped in front by scoring two doubles victories to start, with Bruno and Rafa Serra cruising to a 6-1 win at the No. 3 flight while Harry Thursfield and Jon Brann Reid scored a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position.
In singles action, Reid opened up with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 1 flight, but the Aggies would win flights No. 5 and No. 3 to knot the match up at 2-2. Rafa Serra opened with a 6-4 set-one win at the No. 6 flight and would take set three by the same margin. After North Carolina A&T responded with a No. 2 flight win, setting up Bruno Serra and Ethan Baly's deciding match.
Serra would drop set one 4-6, but blitzed Baly in the second to the tune of 6-1. In set three, the opponents were knotted up at 6-6, with Serra outlasting Baly to score the 8-6 tiebreak win.
The Bulldogs now improve to 8-3 and move to 2-0 in Big South play. Asheville is set to take the court on Sunday, visiting Radford for another Big South contest at 1:00 p.m.
