Men’s Tennis opens up conference play with Longwood Sunday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team embarks on its quest to repeat at the Big South Regular Season Champions on Sunday, hosting conference foe Longwood at 2:00 p.m.
Strong Start
The Bulldogs have picked up where they left off from last spring, jumping out to a 5-1 record thus far. Jon Brann Reid has gone 4-2 at the No. 1 flight, while Leo Bierbaum is a perfect 4-0 at the No. 2 position. The duo has teamed up to go 4-0 at No. 1 doubles as well.
A look at Longwood
The Lancers are just 1-3 on the young season, scoring a 4-2 win over Saint Francis before dropping matches to William & Mary, James Madison and Elon. Rosen Naydenov has competed all three matches at the No. 1 flight (1-2), while Guillermo Cagigas (0-1, 1-1) and Jourdan Kast (0-2, 0-1) have split time at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights.
Series History
Historically, UNC Asheville has dominated the series, going 10-2 and enter Sunday riding a three-match win streak. When the two sides met in Farmville last year, the Bulldogs topped the Lancers 5-2, as Reid, Bierbaum, Harry Thursfield and Sirawit Daesaengsawang all scored singles victories.
