Linge Steenkamp named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After winning both singles and doubles matches this past week against Davidson, Linge Steenkamp was named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week from February 7-13.
The sophomore from Bloemfontein, South Africa, secured an important singles victory at the No. 3 position last Saturday against the Wildcats.
After going down early in her first set 7-5, Steenkamp battled back to take the next two sets 6-4, 6-4, to secure the match on the way to a 5-2 victory for the Bulldogs.
In doubles play, Steenkamp and freshman Ari Siegel secured a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 flight.
Steenkamp moved her singles record to an undefeated 5-0 in singles play on the year paired with a 4-0 doubles record.
Steenkamp's honor is the second time this year a Bulldog has received the award, after Ami Grace Dougah was named Player of the Week on January 26th.
Steenkamp and the Bulldogs take on Longwood on Saturday at home at 3:00 p.m.
