Women’s Basketball hits the road for a rematch with Hampton Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After playing each other on Thursday at Kimmel Arena, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team and Hampton will match up again on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Hampton, Virginia to complete the season series. Tip-off for Saturday is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
Last Time Out – Asheville dropped a decision to the Lady Pirates of Hampton by a score of 75-58 on Thursday night at Kimmel Arena. The loss pushes Asheville's record to 7-17 overall and 2-11 in Big South action.
Kai continuing her hot streak – Junior Kai Carter led the Bulldogs on the scoreboard and on the glass on Thursday vs. Hampton. Carter netted a team-high 16 points to go with seven rebounds. Since the start of 2022, Carter has averaged 16.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Assists adding up for Adams – A highlight for the Bulldogs in Thursday's matchup with Hampton came from Faith Adams. The junior from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, matched a career-high with six assists on the night. Adams also had six assists in a game on December 31, 2020, against Longwood, when the Bulldogs came away with the 68-52 win.
Looking for Victories in Virginia – Asheville will play its next two games in the state of Virginia. After its matchup at Hampton Saturday, Asheville will make the trip to Radford on Tuesday. Since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, the Bulldogs are 4-7 in games played in the state of Virginia.
Scouting Hampton – Following back-to-back wins over Presbyterian (56-53) and UNC Asheville (75-58), Hampton's record improved to 9-11 overall and 5-5 in Big South play. In their win over the Bulldogs on Thursday, five Lady Pirates finished the night in double figures, including Shawn Mills, with a team-high 18 points.
Series Rewind vs. Hampton – Hampton's win Thursday over the Bulldogs improved to 5-1 all-time against Asheville. Saturday's contest will mark just Asheville's third game ever at Hampton. The Lady Pirates have won both of those games by scores of 58-56 in the 1995-96 campaign and 68-59 in 2019-20.
