Caitlin Hefner Named CCSA Swimmer of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) announced on Tuesday that Caitlin Hefner of the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team had been named the League's Swimmer of the Week for competitions held between December 12-18.
This marks the first weekly honor for Hefner in her collegiate career and the fourth weekly honor that a Bulldog has earned this season. Hefner joins Delaney Carlton (Swimmer - October 4), Morgan Coughlen (Diver - October 4), and Jade Canady (Diver - October 4) as Asheville's weekly award winners in 2022-23.
Hefner led the way for Asheville at the CSCAA Open Water Championships last Sunday. She logged a time of 1:00:17.72, which ranked 23rd in the 110-swimmer field. Overall, Asheville placed ninth at the Championships finishing ahead of Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Grand Canyon, and Toledo.Â
Hefner and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action in 2023. Asheville's first meet of the new year will be at the Justice Center Pool on January 6 when it hosts Gardner-Webb at 5:30 p.m.
