CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) announced Tuesday that Jade Canady of the UNC Asheville swimming & diving team has been named the League's Diver of the Week. It marks the second time this season that a Bulldog has earned Diver of the Week honors and it is the second time in Canady's career that she has landed this award.
"As a team we have been working hard this year to push each other in practice, compete new dives and increase our difficulty," said UNC Asheville Head Diving Coach Matthew Macon. "To shatter both records shows the amount of focus and dedication Jade has given to diving every day. She is already working on new dives and I cannot wait to see where she and the rest of the divers can take this program."Â
Over the weekend in a double dual meet vs. Davidson and Gardner-Webb, shattered the program records in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events with point totals of 243.83 and 241.65, respectively. Thanks to Canady's performance along with her teammates, the Bulldogs came away with a pair of victories against the Wildcats (155-145) and Runnin' Bulldogs (236-48) to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Bulldogs will be back in action at two different meets from November 17-20. Asheville's divers will compete at the Wolfpack Diving Invitational in Greensboro, N.C. from November 17-19. The swimmers, meanwhile, will take part in the Fall Frenzy Invitational from November 18-20 in Charlotte, N.C.
