Brooks-Sumpter Records Double-Double in Monday Night Loss to Wofford

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - McKinley Brooks-Sumpter recorded her second double-double of the season in UNC Asheville's 75-58 loss to Wofford Monday night (Dec. 19). Â
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the game, before Wofford went on a run to take the lead through the media timeout. The teams battled until the end of the quarter, with Wofford leading 22-12.
The Bulldogs were able to score 20 points in the second quarter, closing the gap to just two with under five minutes to play in the frame. Wofford would extend the lead in the later part of the quarter,
taking a 40-32 lead to the half.
Wofford extended their lead further in the third quarter, as the Bulldogs would battle until the final horn.
Jordaynia Ivie led the Bulldogs with 17 points in the contest, while Brooks-Sumpter had 13 points and Mallory Bruce chipped in 10. Dakota McCaughan added nine, while Millie Brown tied a career-high with six and Jamia Blake had five. Jamaya Blanks also added four, while Nycerra Minnis had two and Jada Brigman added one. Brooks-Sumpter completed the double-double with a game-high 12 boards, while Bruce also had eight. Ivie and Abigail Wilson each pulled down three, while McCaughan, Blake and Minnis each had two and Brown had one. Brooks-Sumpter, Bruce and McCaughan each dished out two assists in the game, while Ivie, Blake and Brigman each helped on one Bulldog bucket. Ivie, Blake and Wilson each recorded steals in the game for Asheville.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday (Dec. 21) on the road at Austin Peay in non-conference action.
