CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team powered past Queens (N.C.) in non-conference action thanks to a second-half surge, winning by a final score of 68-57.

The teams traded buckets early in the second quarter, with the differential only going as high as four in the frame. Abigail Wilson scored a last-second layup to beat the buzzer off a bounce-pass assist from McKinley Brooks-Sumpter to get the Bulldogs back within one at the half.

The Bulldogs took control of the game in the third quarter, out-scoring Queens 21-15 in the frame. After the Royals tied the game at 30 90 seconds into the period, the Bulldogs went on a run to lead by as many as 10 with under five minutes to play in the third. Queens would battle back in the second half of the frame, but the Bulldogs led 47-42 headed to the fourth.

The Bulldogs would pull away in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead into double digits in the final frame. The lead would fluctuate, but the Bulldogs would control the game until the final whistle for the road win.

Brooks-Sumpter posted a double-double to pace the Bulldogs with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while all five Bulldog starters scored in double figures in the game. Abigail Wilson finished with 14 points, while Mallory Bruce had 11. Faith Adams and Jordaynia Ivie each finished with 10 points in the game.
