Last Time Out
Despite rallying from 19 down, Asheville fell to Gardner-Webb 61-55 on Thursday night at Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs trailed 37-23 at the half, and would shoot 44 percent from the floor and 3-point range in the second, but ran out of steam against the Runnin' Bulldogs. Slow starts have hampered the Bulldogs' success this year, dropping to 0-8 when trailing at the half. Tajion Jones led the Bulldogs with 16 points, while LJ Thorpe scored 12 off the bench and Drew Pember nearly had a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Pember's Production Continues
This past Monday (January 24), Pember collected his third Big South Player of the Week award since December 13, tying the Bulldog record for most weekly awards in a season. The Tennessee transfer dropped a career-high 41 points to go with 11 rebounds in a 78-74 overtime victory at Radford, becoming the first Big South player to record a 40-point, 10-rebound double-double since 2013. Pember continues to get the job done defensively, ranking fifth in the nation in blocks per game (3.55) and fifth in blocks (71). Additionally, Pember has been money at the charity stripe, ranking 38th in Division I in free-throw percentage (87.8), and is the only non-guard to rank in the top 50 in that category. Pember's 10 points on Thursday marked the first time in six games he did not register 20 or more points.

Scouting the Blue Hose
Presbyterian enters the weekend 9-12 overall, but having just picked up its first conference win of the year (1-5), topping Charleston Southern 62-61 on the road on Wednesday night. Rayshon Harrison, last year's Big South Freshman of the Year, is averaging a team-high 17.0 points per game and registered the game-winner Wednesday. Senior Winston Hill leads the Blue Hose with 6.6 rebounds per game, scoring 10.7 per contest. Presbyterian will make the Bulldogs work on the glass, averaging 13.1 offensive rebounds per game (20th, DI). An area Asheville should capitalize on is 3-point shooting, as the Blue Hose are allowing teams to shoot 37.3 percent from behind the arc and are shooting just 27.4 percent from deep as a team. In conference play, however, the Blue Hose have held teams to 67.2 points per game (5th, Big South).
