Women’s soccer welcomes Indiana State on Sunday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team remains at home Sunday, hosting Indiana State at noon.
Where the Bulldogs stand
After a double-overtime loss to ETSU, the Bulldogs dropped Thursday's contest to Elon 3-0. Taylor Gardner has the lone goal of the season, as the freshman scored at Western Carolina (August 22). Fellow rookie Jasmine Barry has been another bright spot, starting all five games for Asheville. Courtney O'Malley and Bronwyn Luitwieler continue to trade time in net, with O'Malley registering a season-best eight saves against Elon.
Scouting the Sycamores
Indiana State enters Sunday with a record of 2-3 overall, most recently dropping a 1-0 contest at Furman. Two of the three losses have been by just one goal, with Missouri downing the Sycamores 3-1. Six different players have found the back of the net led by Mackenzie Kent who has buried two shots. Tara Tesmond and Maddie Alexander have split time in net, with Alexander conceding just two scores in two games.

Sunday marks the first matchup between these two schools.

Due to the prevalence of COVID in the greater Buncombe County Area, UNC Asheville Athletics asks spectators to please mask up and practice social distancing. We also encourage spectators to bring water and snacks as the concessions will be closed. Gates will open one hour prior to kickoff at the Field Drive entrance only.
