Women’s Tennis has strong showing in Emily McNall Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team hosted the first Emily McNall Classic on Saturday, faring well in action against Presbyterian and Western Carolina.
Asheville began the day with a sweep of doubles action against Presbyterian, as Ami Grace Dougah and Rosie Dickson as well as Lize Alet Morkel and Beatrice Faureng dispatched their opponents 6-2. Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp were victorious 7-5 in their first doubles match, teaming up to top the No. 2 doubles flight from Western Carolina by the same margin this afternoon.
Dickson and Dougah registered their second win at the No. 1 doubles flight against Western Carolina, while the Bulldogs nearly had a clean sweep in singles action against Presbyterian. In the No. 1 singles match, Morkel grinded out a three-set win, taking the last set 10-3 to open up singles action for Asheville. Dougah would top her opponent 6-2, 7-5, with Steenkamp winning 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 3 flight.
Dickson and Taylor Love closed out the day for the Bulldogs with a pair of two-set wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, respectively.
Asheville now turns the page to Sunday, with doubles action beginning at 9:00 a.m.
