ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team remains on the road this weekend, traveling to Western Carolina for a match against the Catamounts at 7:00 p.m.

Kicking off 2021
The Bulldogs traveled to Appalachian State for their opener on Thursday night, falling to the Mountaineers 3-0. The game, which was originally scheduled to be played in Asheville, was moved to Boone after rain accumulation from Hurricane Fred. The Mountaineers outshot the Bulldogs 10-5, while rookie Jewell Padilla registered a pair of shots.

Scouting the Catamounts
Like Asheville, Western Carolina opened up its Fall 2021 season on Thursday, falling at home to North Florida 4-1. Maryanne Kilgore scored the lone goal for Western Carolina, while the Catamounts totaled 16 shots, with eight on frame.

Series History
Since 2004, the two sides have met 11 times, with Western Carolina winning eight and the two sides tying once. The last win for the Bulldogs came in 2016, when they topped the Catamounts 3-1 in Cullowhee.
