Men’s Tennis earns 4-3 victory over Presbyterian

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After a pair of impressive victories on the road last weekend, the UNC Asheville men's tennis team welcomed Presbyterian to the Asheville Racquet Club on Wednesday afternoon, with Jon Brann Reid's three-set victory lifting the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win.
Presbyterian opened up the match by taking two of three doubles wins, but Charlie Morkel, Harry Thursfield and Sirawit Daesaengsawang would all take care of business at their respective singles flights, setting up Reid's 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 victory at the No. 3 flight to lock up the fourth team point and give Asheville the win.
Playing in clear weather and sun, Morkel downed Georgije Babic 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles flight, while Daosaengsawang dispatched his opponent 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 6 flight. Thursfield opened up strong with a 6-2 first-set victory at the No. 4 flight, holding off Daniel Stenger 7-6 in the second to earn the win. Earlier in the day, Morkel and Reid teamed up to take down Babic and Max Benson, the reigning Big South Player of the Week, 7-5 at the No. doubles 1 flight.
With the win, Asheville improves to 6-4 on the season, and keeps its undefeated conference record intact (3-0). The Bulldogs remain at home for its next contest, hosting Radford on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
