Men’s Tennis welcomes Presbyterian on Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Coming off a strong 2-0 start to 2021 Big South play, the UNC Asheville men's tennis team returns home on Wednesday, welcoming Presbyterian College to the Asheville Racquet Club for another conference clash.

After two convincing wins at Campbell (7-0) and Longwood (5-2), the Bulldogs sit at 5-4 overall. The win over Campbell was the first since 2016. In singles action, Leo Bierbaum is 8-1 competing in flights No. 3-5, while Jon Brann Reid is 6-1 at No. 3 and No. 4, and Harry Thursfield is 6-2 at the No. 2 through No. 4 flights. In doubles action Bran Reid and Charlie Morkel are 5-2, with Bierbaum and Thursfield going 6-1 as a tandem.

Scouting the Blue Hose
Presbyterian enters Wednesday after a 4-3 victory over Campbell on Tuesday, which improved its record to 6-3 overall and an even 1-1 in the Big South. Max Benson has powered the Presbyterian program this season, posting a record of 7-2 at the No. 1 singles flight. Nicholas McKinney has also been a bright spot for the Blue Hose, going 6-1 in singles competition. In doubles competition, Max Benson and Georgije Babic are 2-1 at the No. 1 flight, with Benson and Daniel Stenger going 3-3.

Series History
Since 2008, Asheville and Presbyterian have squared off 14 times, with the Blue Hose taking nine of those matchups. After dropping eight straight, the Bulldogs have won the last two matchups in Asheville by a score of 4-3, going 4-3 all-time at home against the Blue Hose.
